Diana Wallis continues the fight for Equitable Life victimsReacting to today's announcement that the UK Government has yet again delayed its formal response to the Parliamentary Ombudsman's Equitable Life report a Euro MP has said 'it is little short of disgraceful'.

The European Parliament's own report into the crisis at Equitable Life (written by the Liberal Democrat MEP Diana Wallis) came to similar conclusions to the Parliamentary Ombudsman's report published in July 2008 and the Government had promised a response next week. According to Harriet Harman, Leader of the House, this response has now been postponed until 'after Parliament returns in January'.

Diana Wallis, a Vice-President of the European Parliament said:

"To delay the response to the Parliamentary Ombudsman's report is little short of disgraceful. Hundreds of thousands of people who had savings and pensions with Equitable Life are waiting for the compensation which both my own report and that of the Parliamentary Ombudsman made clear was due to them."
